About this blog

Hello and welcome dear blog visitors from abroad!

Michèle Legrand - Michèle. Gedanken(sprünge) - About page on WordPress

.
No matter if you are an English native speaker or if your nationality is completely different but you’re using this beautiful language to communicate worldwide – I’m pleased to find you here!
I hope you’re not too disappointed about the fact that this blog is written in German – only. I deeply regret but it’s impossible to furnish  complete translations of all my blog posts. I’m sure you have noticed that I tend to offer longer posts here on the blog and as a result long corresponding English texts would become necessary. So it’s  really a matter of lacking time, sorry for this!

Should you use the internet for translation proposals, please don’t get angry about programs like Google translator or similar. Many of my English speaking guests as well as friends from Facebook or Twitter sometimes fall into despair. Worry lines, frowning – that’s what they can’t stifle and filled with incredulity they ask for more explanation as their program presents rather strange sentences. New rather different stories. Often it’s complete absurdity.
Why that?
I have to admit it’s probably my fault. Yes, it is, as it might happen that I use unusual terms, add words having a double meaning (the ambiguous concept) , design new word constructions which do not exist so far, and – bad, bad – I really love playing with words. In combination with a couple of long sentences it’s simply too much for these poor programs.
But this little problem should not hinder you from visiting the blog as you will find a large number of photographs, too, which are often self-explanatory. I’ll give you some additional information below and you’re always invited to ask should you like to know more! In this case please do not hesitate to contact me by commenting or by sending a mail (the address is shown here -> Page “Kontakt”)

Did you find me via Google search, looking for certain topics or photos and were directed to “Michèle. Gedanken(sprünge)”?
Or do you enjoy looking around for interesting blog entries, if possible with completive photographic material?
May be you are a blogger yourself and discovered me and my blog via WordPress (Reader, commentaries …)
Whatever the case may be, you may want to know what this blog is about, which topics can be found. You may also like to know the meaning of “Gedanken(sprünge)” and perhaps you simply want to know who is writing.
Let’s start at the end. My name is Michèle. Even in reality – and it is part of the blog name. I’m living in Hamburg, Germany. I’m writing a lot – also for other people or for the online edition of one or the other newspaper.
But let’s go back to the blog.
I’m interested in life, in all its facets. And particularly I’m interested in people. Why are human beings acting as they do? Many of these experiences and observations are made or happened in everyday life and are part of stories you can find in a category called “Geschichten”, those which are more informative/exploratory are listed in “Artikel”.
Well, this is only one part of this blog.

I think what may attract you – regardless of the different language – are the following categories:

1) Auf Entdeckung – Unterwegs im In- und Ausland (= Traveling)
Going to this category means you will discover places – either in Germany or in foreign countries. I always include a lot of photos. Discover a bit of Amsterdam –  or perhaps Stockholm, the Vasa Museum, the open-air museum Skansen including the zoo or the change of the guards at the King’s palace. Or discover Leipzig with its beautifully restored buildings, a lot of green, Gondwana (within the Leipzig Zoo) and the book fair. Both cities are presented in a little blog series containing several parts. There is so much more – have a look if you like!

2) Hamburg!
It’s an homage to my own city as it’s a really wonderful town! Walk around with me to see famous buildings and places or the typical “Kontorhäuser” (office buildings from the beginning of the 20th century with wonderful fronts (sandstone or brick façades), impressive foyers and beautiful staircases), get into a paternoster, ascend the tower of St. Michael’s church and hear the bells or enter one of the Alster boats to have a boat trip on the large Alster lake and discover more. Visit the World’s greatest port festival or a have a look at the Christmas markets.

3) Garten (und Natur allgemein) as well as further specific categories listed there
These words aren’t so much different from your own language, am I right? ^^ Nature in general is to be found here. And please stop here to find more about really cool parks in Hamburg (for example Planten un Blomen including the stunningly beautiful illuminated water fountains) or about special plants that only bloom once in their life like the Agave weberi measuring 7 meters at the end! It’s also about my own garden, my favourite plants or the animal guests.

4) Many of the articles are also listed under “Fotos” as I rather often use to add photo material in my posts

5) Mode (Model Contest, Modenschauen, Fashion-Themen)
For those of you who always desired to have a look backstage (or off-stage, if you prefer) during a model contest – it’s belonging to a. m. category. Get an impression what is happening during a casting, the recall, the workshops, the first and final fashion shows and look at the photos showing the participants as a living doll (shop-window dummy). Quite remarkable!

That should be sufficient for the moment to lead you through the topics and categories.

Let’s now come to the expression “Gedanken(sprünge)”. You easily will recognize a word which is composed and which is extended in a way (in brackets). Gedanken are thoughts and Gedankensprünge is what you would call mental leaps. In this blog you’ll find a lot of thoughts which often are interrupted by mental leaps – but at the end they complete what was said and exactly because of these strange or unusual trains of thoughts it will help you to remember details later on.

What else could I tell you about me?
I am a tap dancer (not a professional one) – but apart from that I’m a quiet person. ;)

I read numerous blogs written by bloggers from all over the world (daily) and I love it! I got in touch with many of my visitors which is simply fantastic. And it’s nice to discover a lot of common interests!
My blog statistics indicates that many of you are from the USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Scandinavia etc. as well as a lot of Eastern countries or even the Far East – so I hope this new English page will help you all.
.

Be my guest! It would be an enormous pleasure!

Hi Michele. Thanks for inviting me to your blog. Although I really can’t understand too much of German, I’m having a great time speaking your words out loud. :) Also, I’m enjoying exploring your site and the gorgeous photos. Be well!

Hi Kevin. I have to thank YOU for coming! (It would be nice to listen while you’re speaking my words out loud … ;-D )
Enjoy the photos! I hope this little info helped a bit to find the right category and topics.
It’s interesting – many of my English speaking visitors are revealing about their knowledge of the German language. Well, they call it „little“, „poor“ or „rough“ but it doesn’t matter. The fact is, I didn’t know that obviously so many people in the USA or Canada and also UK decided to choose „German“ during their High School time. That’s absolutely nice, really! ;)

Oh, that’s nice to see you here! Thanks for your visit, Alesia! I remember your blog as Donna (Garden Walk, Garden Talk) mentioned your name as well as a certain blogpost recently! Once again I’m a little bit sorry that I do not offer the English translation as well but only the German version but I think you might like some posts – those not only showing text but containing photos as well. As you already discovered this special „About his blog“-page with further explanations you can take these as a guideline – if you like to do so.
Your mom was born in Berlin? I suppose she emigrated long time ago. Already during the war? And there are still cousins living here in my town? ^^ Should you ever like to get information about Hamburg or perhaps look for your cousins, I’d be pleased to offer you assistance. – Michèle

Michelle, that is very nice. alesiablogs@hotmail.com is the best way to have conversation about my family as this post is public as you know. It would be nice to get a hold of them. They own some medical businesses in town and my other cousin in Berlin owns several nursing homes. It is big business getting old! Please send me an email and maybe we can talk via that way…I will definitely check out your blog more and send to my mom. By the way, Donna is a very good friend to me.

Thanks for dropping in on aphotogenicworld Michèle; visitors are always welcome but especially the beautiful ones! Afraid my German is so lacking that I’ll not be able to reciprocate – I’m too busy learning Italian at the moment! Buona sera bella signora x

I have to thank YOU! Paul, WordPress sometimes display suggestions whom to visit whilst I’m scrolling through my reader. I’m glad that I did not ignore the proposal to go to your blog. ^^ It was exciting to have a look at your photographs! I surely will return to have a further look but this doesn’t mean that you have to reciprocate anything. It’s my very own and completely voluntary decision where to read, where to look and I never expect the other one to return my visit.
Thanks for leaving your kind comment!

In bocca al lupo per imparare la lingua italiana!

Thanks for your kind words and sorry for being late with my reply. Glad to hear that you could listen to one of the audio posts. Regrettably one of the companies chosen to get the necessary open link for the blog here meanwhile changed its policy. Therefore a lot of the respective posts are no longer available. All links (podcasts and boos) loadad up using „Audioboo(m)“, however, are still working.

      Have a nice week, Luke!
